RISD Assignment (2022)

My very first automata, made from wood, clay, fabric, acrylic, programmed LED lights, paint, and found materials. Utilizing a system of cams and hand cut gears to create a gentle wave rocking motion, and a Pepper’s Ghost effect to project an aurora borealis, the scene is inspired by childhood memories of play pretending to sail at sea on a bunk bed with my friends.
